From Tutus and Toronto to Tapas

Mouthwatering Morsels from Málaga, Andalucia, Spain

Did you know that Spain has officially declared a World Tapas Day?

Yes – it is true! There have been a few “unoffical” ones in the past but Turespaña announced earlier this year that every third Thursday of June of each year will now officially be designated as “World Tapas Day”.

In 2016 it will fall on Thursday 16th June.

We are of course highly excited by this as we believe that Tapas have become as well known world-wide as paella and of course we will be celebrating it in style in Málaga (we already have both lunchtime and evening Tapas Tours booked that day!). There will be sherry of course, excellent wine and lots of Tapas.

Apparently, 20 countries worldwide have signed up to the great event and there are going to be many Tapas “events” all over Spain. Food “tourism” reportedly produced 9.5 million visitors to this beautiful country in 2015 – a figure that is set to increase in 2016.

We are looking forward to it here in Málaga too – great to have it “officially” recognised. Yes, we know Murcia!
